You probably just chuck it out. There are people who make useful things out of it, like the Oaxacan cooperation “GRUPAE” (Ecology supporting group).
Mercedes Matadamas Vargas, who founded “GRUPAE”, got the idea to take advantage of trash instead of ignoring with it, in April 2006.
By now the cooperation consists of 25 woman and anybody who would like to join them is welcome.
The only requirements are a minimum age of 10 years, motivation to work and participate in the project.
They just started a new project, using plastic bags and making textiles out of the equal ones.
There is no support by any institution or sponsor but if anyone should be interested in supporting them his good deed will be joyfully welcomed.
They are located at “Prolongation de Hidalgo nr.5 Trinidad de Viguera. Also for those who want to get rid of useless things in their houses like, newspapers, magazines, wires, card, plastic bags or packing materials, these items are welcome.
The idea is to minimize trash, make useful things out of it, protect the environment and teach people, with limited resources, to take advantage of the recycling.
If your interested in buying their products, you can find them outside of the Pochote cinema, on Fridays.
